Activities for Over 50's

At the Richmondshire Leisure Trust facilities we offer a number of activities which are open to over 50’s. This includes any of the swimming sessions that we have on offer at Richmond swimming pool. Furthermore all of the facilities we have on offer at Richmond sports complex are open to those over 50 years old. All of the classes we run at Richmond Sports Complex and Richmond swimming pool are open to those over 50 years old also.

Benefits of regular physical activity include a reduced risk of: heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, bowel cancer, type 2 diabetes, breast cancer, osteoporosis, and obesity. In addition, many people feel better in themselves. Regular physical activity helps you to control your weight, and may help ease stress, anxiety, and depression. Ideally, you should do at least 30 minutes of moderate aerobic physical activity, at least five days per week. Plus, a couple of sessions of muscle strengthening activities per week. However, anything is better than nothing. For example, a daily brisk walk of about two miles is a realistic goal for many people and can have a big impact on health risk
