Richmondshire Local Sports Association
Richmondshire Local Sports Association is made up of local people who all give there time voluntarily, including Local Councillors, Parish Councillors, School Teachers and Members/Representatives of local sports clubs. Regular meetings are held to discuss the current issues facing local sports clubs and organisations.
There are also a number of organisations affiliated to the Sports Council. The minimum fee to affiliate in 2011/12 is £5.00. For further information on becoming affiliated please contact Councillor Peter Wood, email; cllr.p.wood@richmondshire.gov.uk.
Thank you to all who affiliated in 2010/11 enabling the Sports Council to give £1,640 in grants to young people to assist with the costs in their training and also, to cover some of the costs incurred in running the Annual Junior Sports Awards Presentation of 2011. It is hoped this year to continue supporting as many young people of Richmondshire as possible.

Junior Sports Awards
The Local Sports Council also took the initiative to set up and organise the Junior Sports Awards event in 1998, awarding numerous local young people for their contribution to sport and the recognition brought to Richmondshire through sport.
Due to the success of the event, the Local Sports Council have continued to organise this event annually.
The 2012 Awards presentation will be held on Wednesday 4 July 2012 at 7.00 pm at Wensleydale School, Leyburn. For a copy of the nomination form please click here.
Before the annual awards take place nomination forms will be sent directly to schools, clubs and Parish Councils.
