Partnership Youth Games 2006After such a successful event in 2005 at Ampleforth College, it has been agreed that the 2006 event shall head back to this fantastic site. The North Yorkshire Partnership Youth Games is an annual event designed as an introductory tool for young people to access competitive sport. Each District in North Yorkshire selects teams of young people who have not previously competed in that sport to compete against those of similar ability. The teams of young people will then compete against the other 7 Districts of North Yorkshire and the City of York.

Partnership Youth Games 2005Youth Sport in North Yorkshire continues to go from strength to strength as demonstrated on Sunday 8th May when over 1,400 young people aged 8 to 16years, from across the region took part in the 6th Annual Partnership Youth Games. Held at the stunning venue of Ampleforth College, the event attracted youngsters from all 8 districts in North Yorkshire, competing in 12 sports across 19 categories including, for the first time in the Games, Gymnastics, Rounders and Aquathon. North Yorkshire Sport Coordinator David Watson said that this year's event had proved hugely popular, building on the success of previous year's Games and taking the level of competition even further. "For many youngsters this will have been their first taste of district competition and in some cases a first opportunity to represent their team or club. The ethos of the games is to make sport and competition fun and accessible to as many people as possible and this year's event has undoubtedly fulfilled that." York proved the most successful district taking 5 trophies, closely followed by Craven who won 4. Every single district had at least one winning team and as well as picking up individual trophies, Harrogate collected the Fair Play Trophy for the first time. Results
